A Rockslide Full of Giant Boulders Fell on Highway 50. There’s Only One Explosive Way to Remove It.

A large rockslide fell on Highway 50 near Kyburz on New Years Eve, sending multiple giant boulders onto the road. Fortunately, the road was able to remain open in both directions, but removing the rockslide will be a difficult task.

Here are some photos of the larges rockslide from Caltrans:

Caltrans will need to strap the boulders with explosives the reduce them in size and remove them from the road. This might seem like a tall task, but it’s actually quite common. Watch this video of Caltrans removing boulders near Tioga Pass with explosives:

We just hope Caltrans will gift us with a video of the explosive removal of the boulders on Highway 50. Stay tuned!
