California State Parks Offer Free Admission to Military Members on Memorial Day

In honor of Memorial Day, California State Parks will offer free admission to veterans, active duty, and reserve military members at 142 participating state parks on Monday, May 26.

This annual gesture is part of the state’s ongoing effort to recognize the service and sacrifice of those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces and National Guard.

“We are proud to welcome our veterans and service members on Memorial Day as a gesture of gratitude for their dedication and sacrifice,” said State Parks Director Armando Quintero. “May California’s incredible landscapes offer rest, connection and peace.”

To receive free entry, visitors must present a valid military ID or proof of discharge (other than dishonorable or bad conduct). Parks included in the program span the state, from Clay Pit State Vehicular Recreation Area in Butte County to Pismo State Beach and beyond.

The program was made possible by AB 150, signed into law in 2013, which authorizes California State Parks to offer complimentary access to military personnel on designated days.
