Interstate 5 Remains Closed to All Traffic Between Redding and Yreka Due to Snow
As the sun rose Wednesday morning to reveal large amounts of snow throughout Northern California, Holiday travel remains stifled. Due to a large number of spinouts on Interstate 5 for 100 miles between Yreka and Redding, the road remains closed:
UPDATE: NB/SB I-5 between Yreka and Redding remains CLOSED due the extremely large number of vehicles spun out along the interstate. Those vehicles must be removed in order to get traffic flowing normally and the road plowed. There is still no ETA for reopening.

CalTrans webcams show an icy trek on I-5 in between the closed stretch and there has been no indication when the road may open again on Wednesday:
Meanwhile, over in the Tahoe area, Interstate 80 remains closed in both directions between Nyack and Truckee.
It looks like there won’t be much chance for Holiday travel today in NorCal!
