Jet Ski Crash on Shasta Lake Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

A jet ski collision on Shasta Lake turned fatal on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old male and injuries to a 19-year-old male.

The incident occurred on September 7, 2024, around 2:44 p.m. in Shannon Cove, near Sacramento Point. According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies from the Boating Safety Unit responded to reports of a boating collision. Upon arrival, they found two injured individuals on the shoreline. The 19-year-old male suffered a knee injury, while the 18-year-old sustained injuries to his chin and face. The two victims were reportedly riding a jet ski when they were struck by another jet ski operated by a 21-year-old male, who was not injured.

Deputies transported the two injured men to Bridge Bay Marina, where medical crews were waiting. However, upon arrival at the marina, the 18-year-old became unresponsive. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The accident remains under investigation by local authorities.
