Redwood National Park Visitors Boost Local Economy with $37.9 Million Impact in 2023

A recent National Park Service (NPS) report reveals that 409,105 visitors to Redwood National Park in 2023 contributed significantly to the local economy. These visitors spent $29.6 million in nearby communities, supporting 384 local jobs and resulting in a total economic benefit of $37.9 million.

Redwood National Park, known for its ancient forests and rugged coastline, continues to attract visitors seeking solitude and natural beauty.

“People come to Redwood to enjoy the solitude of ancient forests and rugged coastline and end up supporting the US and local economies along the way,” said Superintendent Steve Mietz. “We’re proud that Redwood supports 384 jobs and generates $37 million in revenue to communities near the park.”

Nationally, NPS data shows that 325.5 million visitors spent $26.4 billion near national parks, supporting 415,400 jobs and generating $55.6 billion in economic output. The lodging sector saw the highest direct economic contributions, with $9.9 billion and 89,200 jobs, followed by restaurants with $5.2 billion and 68,600 jobs.
