Mammoth Lakes Police Share Video of Slow-Moving 4-Car Pileup in Icy Conditions
The storms that slammed Northern California in January brought more than 15 feet of snow to Mammoth Lakes in January alone. With heavy snow surrounding the region, driving became a very dangerous activity for locals and visitors alike.
The Mammoth Lakes police show a unique 4-car pileup on an icy road that’s difficult to watch because it happen so slowly:
“Please be aware of your surroundings when walking through Town during these storms,” wrote Mammoth Lakes Police on social media. “Avoid steeper roads if you don’t have chains on (and yes, sometimes you even need chains on your 4wd vehicle). Luckily, there were no injuries from this incident.”
Glad no one was injured in this incident. Let this be a reminder that driving in the snow can be unpredictable, even for the most experienced drivers. Drive carefully in the mountains and slow down in icy conditions.
