Mammoth Mountain is Getting FebruBURIED in Massive Snowstorm

Mammoth Mountain is getting absolutely slammed with snow, with up to three feet of fresh powder falling overnight—and there’s more on the way. The storm, which is being measured in feet rather than inches, has created epic conditions but also some major challenges for mountain operations and travel.

Ski Patrol is working hard to dig out lifts and get the lower mountain open, but with winds gusting up to 70 mph, progress is slow. Riders should expect delayed openings and limited terrain while crews battle the elements.

With snowfall expected to continue throughout the day, another 33 to 39 inches could pile up, making this one of the biggest dumps of the season. However, with these deep conditions comes an increased risk of tree wells and snow immersion hazards. Experts urge skiers and riders to stay clear of tree wells and always keep a partner in sight.

For those planning to head to Mammoth, check Caltrans for road conditions before making the trek. The storm is still in full force, and travel could be treacherous. But for those already there—get ready for an unforgettable powder day!
