Montague Hot Air Balloon Fair Returns to Siskiyou County September 19–21

The skies above Siskiyou County are about to burst with color. The Montague Hot Air Balloon Fair is back September 19–21, filling the weekend with balloon launches, music, food, and community fun.
The fair kicks off Friday, Sept. 19 at the Montague Airport, with gates opening at 6 a.m. Visitors can enjoy breakfast from the Yreka Elks Lodge while watching the first balloon launches at 7 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 20 is packed with activities: craft vendors open at 6 a.m., followed by balloon launches at 7 a.m. and tethered rides from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. At noon, the streets of Montague come alive with the annual parade—this year featuring a groovy 1970s theme. Back at the airport, music, food, kids’ activities, and vendors keep the fun going until dusk, when the breathtaking Night Glow Show, presented by Suburban Propane, lights up the evening sky.
The event wraps up on Sunday, Sept. 21 with another round of morning balloon launches, music, food, and crafts.
All events are free, though weather conditions determine balloon flights. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and cameras but should leave dogs and drones at home. Parking will be available on the south runway, managed by the YMCA Teen Leadership Council. Handicapped parking is provided with a placard or license plate.
For one weekend only, Montague becomes NorCal’s capital of color. Don’t miss the chance to watch the balloons soar.
