Mt. Shasta Snowboarder Qualifies for 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing

Mt. Shasta local Robby Burns has been working towards his dream since he was a child. Now, he will be able to live out that dream at the Winter Olympics.

Burns was announced as a member of the Team U.S.A. snowboard team at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. The 31-year-old will compete in the parallel giant slalom, which is scheduled to take place on February 8.

“I am so thankful for this opportunity to represent my Country on the grandest stage of International sport,” Burns wrote on Instagram. “A huge thank you to my family, dear friends and the whole community of Mount Shasta that rallied support to make this possible.”

Growing up in Mt. Shasta, Robby has spent the past 5 years competing around the world as a professional alpine snowboard racer. Over the past three years, he has competed 19 World Cup racing competitions, with his best ranking coming in at 30th in the world.
