Scary Video Shows Beachgoer Getting Swept Out to Sea By Massive Bay Area Wave
The waves have been vicious around the Bay Area and Sonoma Coast lately, with multiple high-surf warnings being issued by the National Weather Service and a recording of a 75-foot wave near Mendocino recently. One person who didn’t get the memo was a beachgoer who was caught on camera being hit by a massive wave at Bonny Doon and falling into the ocean.
The County of Santa Cruz posted a terrifying video of the incident:
Luckily, the incident avoided tragedy when State Park officials rescued the victim, but it’s a lesson to research the conditions of the ocean before going near it. The video shows the sheer power of the ocean and how high-surf advisories should be taken seriously.
Stay safe out there, NorCal.
