It’s been a year and a half since 20-year-old Tyler Dickson was murdered while sleeping in a tent at a Bidwell Marina campground at Lake Oroville. Now, California officials are offering a reward in the hopes of bringing the killer to justice.

Dickson was visiting Lake Oroville from San Pablo when he was found shot dead in his tent on the morning of July 3, 2020. Evidence appears to show that there was no struggle and the gunshot came as he was asleep. Following an exhausting investigation, the California Governor’s Office is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder.

A talented young football player who was described as “loved by everyone,” Dickson’s death was mourned by the whole community in San Pablo. It also shook the Lake Oroville community, which seems to have experienced a random gunshot killing in night.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Butte County Sheriff’s Office at (530) 538-7671. Ask to speak with either Sergeant Patrick McNelis or Detective Tristian Harper.
