Tahoe Fund Launches $10k Match to Improve Backcountry Access

Winter recreation in Tahoe is world class, but reaching the backcountry can be a challenge. Limited parking, slow snow removal, and crowded trailheads often make it difficult for skiers, riders, and snowshoers to access the mountains. To help ease those pressure points, the Tahoe Fund has launched a new matching campaign to support the Tahoe Backcountry Alliance (TBA).
The first 100 people who donate $35 or more by December 31, 2025 will unlock a $10,000 gift to TBA in honor of the organization’s 10th anniversary. Each donor will also receive a Tahoe Backcountry Alliance membership based on their gift level.
Membership tiers include:
• $35 – TBA member plus a 3 month free trial of onX and 20 percent off an annual membership
• $150+ – All benefits above plus an exclusive Flylow x TBA hat
• $500+ – Core member status with TBA glass tumblers, a hat, and a beanie
“The Tahoe Backcountry Alliance does a phenomenal job helping people safely recreate outdoors,” said Tahoe Fund Board Chair Verdi DiSesa. “When people donate to help meet the $10,000 match, they are contributing to an effort that improves backcountry access for all.”
TBA’s work reaches beyond trailheads. The organization helps support the Washoe Tribe’s Youth Expedition Program with cross country ski and snowshoe experiences, and also provides free sno park passes and gear through libraries across El Dorado, Placer, and Nevada counties.
“This matching campaign will make a meaningful impact,” said TBA Executive Director Anthony Cupaiuolo. “We are honored to see the community invest in expanding safe, human powered access.”
