Tahoe Resorts Extend Ski Season After 2.5 Feet of Fresh Snow

Ski season isn’t over yet in Tahoe—Mother Nature just added a fresh twist. A recent storm dumped over 2.5 feet of powder across the Sierra Nevada, setting up ideal conditions for spring skiing. With sunshine-filled days and soft snow, the three major Tahoe resorts are extending their seasons to April 20.
Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain Resort both announced the one-week extension following the storm. Heavenly Mountain Resort was already set to stay open through April 20, meaning skiers and snowboarders now have more time to enjoy perfect spring laps at all three destinations.
Spring skiing in Tahoe is often considered the best time to ride, with longer days, mellow vibes, and now—thanks to the storm—excellent snow. Each resort is celebrating the extended season with events, music, and competitions.
At Northstar, live music returns to the Village every weekend, alongside the Pepsi Patio Pop-Up and the Spring It On festival (April 5-6), featuring a pond skim and rail jam. Kirkwood will host the IFSA Junior National Championships from April 11-13 and close out with its own pond skim on April 19.
Meanwhile, Heavenly will keep the party going with DJ sets at Tamarack Lodge and Stein’s, and a pond skim event on April 12 before its final weekend of festivities.
With fresh snow and stacked calendars, there’s no better time to squeeze in a few more spring turns in Tahoe before the lifts stop spinning on April 20.
