Tahoe Ski Resorts Announce Opening Dates for 2024-25 Season

Ski season is just around the corner, and Lake Tahoe resorts are beginning to reveal their opening dates for the 2024-25 winter season. With temperatures cooling and winter weather forecasts in, Tahoe resorts are urging visitors to start booking their trips. Early bookings often come with discounts, giving skiers a chance to lock in their winter plans ahead of the rush.

For now, mid-November is the earliest expected opening, though dates remain weather-dependent. Homewood announced it will keep its slopes closed for the season.

Here are the targeted opening days for Tahoe ski resorts this winter:

  • Heavenly – Nov. 22
  • Kirkwood – Dec. 6
  • Mammoth – Nov. 15
  • Northstar – Nov. 22, conditions permitting
  • Palisades Tahoe – Nov. 27
  • Sugar Bowl – Nov. 22
  • Sierra-at-Tahoe – Nov. 29
  • Diamond Peak – Aiming for early December (no specific date)

Boreal, Donner Ski Ranch, and Soda Springs have yet to announce opening dates.

The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a weak La Niña this winter. Although La Niñas are often associated with drier winters, recent seasons have shown exceptions, with some La Niña years bringing above-average snowfall.

For those looking to hit the slopes early, these dates mark the best chance to enjoy Tahoe’s winter wonderland as the season kicks off.
