The Lemurian Candidate: New Hollywood Film Set on the Slopes of Mount Shasta

Northern California has always been a popular filming location for some of Hollywood’s best films, but a new movie set on the slopes of Mount Shasta has me more excited for a film than I can remember.

The Lemurian Candidate was recently filmed on Mount Shasta with some of the brightest minds in the industry and a fun take on visiting our favorite mountain. Written and directed by Casey Cooper Johnson, the movie centers on a trio of former college friends who decide to embark on a backpacking journey to Mount Shasta with hopes of mending old wounds and enhancing their mental well-being. However, what starts as a simple weekend getaway takes a dramatic turn towards chaos and a search for extraterrestrial encounters when one of them introduces hallucinogenic substances into the equation.

A poster of the film illustrates just how trippy it might be:

Not much else is known about the movie, but photos released of the production show that they actually filmed most of it on location on Mount Shasta:

Who else is excited for this movie?! There currently isn’t a release date, so stay tuned for updates!
