The X Games is Coming to Northern California

The X Games, one of the world’s premier action sports events, is making a big move to Northern California this summer.

Organizers announced that the renowned skateboarding and BMX competition will be held at Cal Expo in Sacramento from August 22 to 24, marking the start of a three-year partnership that will keep the event in the state’s capital through 2027.

This year’s X Games Sacramento will feature skateboarding, BMX, and Moto X competitions, hosting over 100 elite athletes who will compete for more than $1 million in prize money. The event also coincides with the 30th anniversary of the X Games, adding extra excitement as the games lead up to the launch of the new X Games League, a global team format set to debut in 2026.

The competition will also partner with California Dreamin’ Entertainment, which is reimagining the Raging Waters park at Cal Expo. Alongside the action sports, the festival will include live music, with a lineup to be announced soon.

“I grew up right outside of Sacramento, so this really is a dream come true for me,” said five-time X Games BMX athlete Bryce Tryon at a press conference. “X Games has always been a huge part of my life, so I’m stoked to feel like I’m playing host to a competition that has given me so much over the years and show my hometown the best that action sports have to offer.”

Tickets for X Games Sacramento are expected to go on sale soon. Stay tuned for updates on the music lineup and event details.
