Watch Skiers Race to the Top of Mt. Shasta Ski Park During the Shasta Ascension Race

The 7th Annual Shasta Ascension Backcountry Race was held at the Mt. Shasta Ski Park on January 18, 2020, where a large group of enthusiastic skiers raced up the mountain and down as quick as possible. The race is a combination of endurance, strength and skiing and brings out some of the best characters in the winter sport scene from all around Northern California.

The race, presented by the Friends of the Mount Shasta Avalanche Center and the Mount Shasta Ski Park, has skiers using skins to climb up the mountain and ski/snowboard down multiple times from various locations before a winner is crowned. Some show up to give it their best and hopefully, win the race, while others dress up in silly costumes and just have a fun day on the mountain with the skiing peers.
