Whiskeytown’s Brandy Creek Beach Closed Due to Suspected Algae Bloom

Just weeks after Brandy Creek Beach in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area was reopened following the Covid-19 closure, officials have once again closed the beach due to a suspected algae bloom in the water.
A bright green bloom appeared in the water over the weekend and officials announced they would be closing the beach until they could perform tests to determine the health of the lake.
While the popular Brandy Creek Beach is closed, there are still plenty of other swimming and boating opportunities open on the lake. The trails to Whiskeytown Falls and Crystal Creek Falls are also open to the public.
We will update the situation as information is made available.
