With Over a Foot of New Snow in the NorCal Mountains, Christmas Week will be a Powder Paradise

Since Thanksgiving week, the snow has been falling nearly nonstop, giving Northern California the snowpack needed to enter 2020 with a bang. Following a weekend storm and sunny skies forecast for the week ahead, Christmas week is is going to be a bluebird powder paradise for any skiers or snowboarders.

Parts of the Tahoe area received over a foot of snow this weekend, adding to the 13-feet of snow that some ski resorts have already seen. Here are the snow totals from the weekend’s storm:

Now, as Christmas approaches, the skies are parting to create the bluebird week of the winter so far, with clear skies forecast for the Sierra Nevada through the week. For instance, the Tahoe area will see mostly bluebird days this following week:

Meanwhile, it’s been “puking snow” at the newly opened Mt. Shasta Ski Park this week and, except for a little snow on Christmas, it should see the clear skies in the coming week:

And let’s not forget about Mammoth Mountain, which has already seen over 10 feet of snowfall, including over a foot this weekend. It will see mostly sunny skies for the week ahead:

It’s hard to imagine that this winter will get that much more epic, since the snowfall has been plentiful since Thanksgiving week, giving epic powder lines like these:
