Yosemite to Release Delayed Summer Campground Reservations Later This Month

Good news for anyone planning a summer camping trip to Yosemite National Park — the park has announced new release dates for several popular campgrounds after last month’s unexpected reservation delay.

Reservations for Wawona, Hodgdon Meadow, and sites 1–124 in Upper Pines will open on Recreation.gov on the following schedule:

  • June 15–July 14 arrivals: Reservations open Monday, March 24
  • July 15–August 14 arrivals: Reservations open Monday, March 31

Both releases go live at 7 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time, and as always, expect high demand — Yosemite’s summer reservations typically disappear in minutes.

The original delay affected a month’s worth of bookings (June 15–July 14) across five campgrounds: Upper Pines, Lower Pines, North Pines, Wawona, and Hodgdon Meadow. Today’s announcement clarifies that three of those locations now have confirmed release dates, while the others may follow depending on staffing and operational capacity.

Park officials say existing reservations are not affected, and additional campground sites could open later. If more sites become available, Yosemite will give at least seven days’ notice via its website and social media.

If you’re hoping to camp in peak season, mark your calendar — and be ready at 7 a.m. sharp. Yosemite summer reservations remain some of the hardest to snag in the national park system.
