Palisades Tahoe Just Had Its Snowiest April Since 2022 as Another Round of Snow Hits

Despite a dissapointing winter overall, April at Palisades Tahoe is shaping up to be one for the books.
A storm that rolled through the Sierra earlier this month dropped 3.5 feet of new snow on the upper mountain and 2 feet at the base, pushing April’s total to 70 inches. That’s the snowiest April at Palisades since 2022. For a season that had been tracking below average, it was a welcome reset.
The season total now sits at 348 inches, roughly 88 percent of the historical average for this time of year. Not a banner year overall, but April has been doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Now another system is moving in. A winter weather advisory is in effect through Tuesday evening for the greater Lake Tahoe area, with snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches expected at mid-elevations and 4 to 10 inches above 7,000 feet. Ridge gusts could reach 70 mph.
Long-range models had been pointing to above-average precipitation continuing through at least April 22, and forecasters noted the two-week snowfall outlook looked more like what they had hoped for in March. Better late than never.
Palisades remains one of the few Sierra resorts still running lifts this deep into spring. For anyone who wrote off the season or assumed the skiing was done, the mountain has other ideas. Check conditions before heading up and give yourself extra travel time on Highway 89.
