Yosemite’s Popular High Sierra Camps to Remain Closed for 2025 Season

Yosemite’s popular High Sierra Camps will remain closed for the 2025 summer season, dealing a blow to those planning a backcountry “glamping” adventure.

Yosemite Hospitality, in coordination with the National Park Service, announced the decision due to ongoing issues with potable water and restroom facilities at the camps. The utilities required to support camp operations will not be available this year.

The five historic camps — known for offering hikers tent accommodations and meals deep in Yosemite’s wilderness — were set to fully reopen for the first time since 2018. That long-anticipated return will now be delayed at least another year.

Guests affected by the closure will receive priority booking for the 2026 reservation lottery.

For now, those seeking a more comfortable backcountry experience in Yosemite will have to wait — or make alternative plans.
