A Lupine Super Bloom is Taking Over Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places in Northern California, if not the entire United States. Add to it a super bloom of bright purple lupine flowers and you’re in for a rare treat.

A lupine super bloom is currently taking over portions of North Lake Tahoe beaches. These blooms aren’t uncommon, but this year’s seems to be one of the best we’ve seen in a long time.

Lupines thrive in sandy, loose soil, which make them perfect to see on the side of lakes or the ocean. Other areas of NorCal experience similar blooms, like Folsom Lake or on the shores of the Humboldt Coast, but it’s especially fun to see them in Tahoe.

The fields, located just west of Tahoe City, showcase some of the brightest flowers you’ll see with a picturesque Tahoe background. More blooms are also happening around the surrounding meadows of the Sierra Nevada near Truckee.

Here are some of our favorite photos we’ve seen of this year’s bloom:

We’ll tell you that you can find the lupine super blooms on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, but you’re going to have to find them from there. The search is the best part!
