The dive team from the Shasta County Sheriff is searching for a man that went missing in the waters of Shasta Lake Monday morning. The man was swimming back to a houseboat when he went under.

After the swimmer was reported missing, search and rescue teams combed the area of the lake looking for any signs of the man alive in the water. Now, the efforts have moved from a rescue to the recovery of the body.

The man, who is believed to be in his 40’s, was swimming around the houseboat in a region near Bridge Bay when he went under and did not come back up from the water. The weather around the lake was very windy on Monday, although it’s unknown if those conditions were a factor in the incident.

We will continue to update the situation as more information is made available.
