Popular Cave in Sequoia National Park to Reopen After Four-Year Closure

Crystal Cave in Sequoia National Park is reopening to visitors after a four-year closure, offering a chance to explore its stunning underground formations once again. Tickets for the popular guided tours go on sale starting March 31, 2025, at 10 AM PDT.
Closed since the 2021 KNP Complex Fire and subsequent severe winter storms, Crystal Cave has undergone extensive restoration efforts to ensure visitor safety. Repairs included removing hazard trees, fixing damaged roads, restoring the cave’s solar-powered lighting system, and rebuilding the ticket kiosk.
Guided tours of the marble cave, renowned for its intricate stalactites and stalagmites, will run from May 23 through September 7, 2025. Each 50-minute tour gives visitors an immersive experience into the cave’s geology, ecology, and rich history.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome visitors back,” said Savannah Boiano, Executive Director of Sequoia Parks Conservancy. “Crystal Cave is one of Sequoia National Park’s most awe-inspiring treasures.”
Tour tickets ($20 for adults, $10 for children) must be purchased in advance through the Sequoia Parks Conservancy website, as tickets will not be sold at the cave. Visitors should prepare for a steep, strenuous half-mile trail to reach the cave entrance.
Tickets are expected to sell quickly, so visitors are encouraged to reserve early.
